Historic Trip continued Day 3

Sept 14th  Monday--
Today we woke up early again and drove to Jamestown in the morning.  We enjoyed a wonderful tour of this historic place.  Jamestown is the first settlement that came to this area to get it established.  Our tour guide was dressed as John Rolfe who had married Pocahontas.  He did a wonderful job acting the part and telling us what it was like in the early days.  He had a great accent and was in costume.  He shared with us how the gentlemen that came to this new land did not know how to work because they never had to before and many of them died from starvation because they did not know how to take care of their own needs.  An interesting point he made was that when they did get food they had to share with everyone and it was to much work to share with everyone.  Later when they deeded land to individuals and told them they could keep what they produced the people did better.  It is the same with life.  We do better when we work for what we get and it does not have to be the same for everyone.

Williamsburg was the next stop on our trip.  When we arrived it was time for lunch so we ate at a nice little place that had chili and barbecue beef sandwiches.  Then we visited the little shops and buildings and enjoyed seeing this colonial town.  We also saw a play about the reenactment of the Declaration of Independence and several mini skits about freedom.

We ate dinner at a Tavern and had soup and Beef brisket.  On the way back we stopped at a Chocolate Store for a treat and I wanted a picture by this sign.
